1) A mentor is important

If you have an idea, then you have to find a mentor that can guide you in solving a problem you’ve got in mind. You must have the initiative, means that you have to find the right mentor by yourself. Persistence is a must because a mentor can be a very useful person especially when you are stuck. By all means, a mentor will help you find certain solution for the problem related to your science projects. In most cases, a mentor has an important role and often subtle. S/he can help you organizing the research, give you lots of feedback and teach you how to present the data in the right way.   


2) Make an original contribution

Your science research should be able to propose new knowledge, or an original contribution. Here you need to be a creative person who will pour the desire into real science


3) Place doesn’t matter 

Doing research require a neat place where you can conduct a research in comfort. However, the question is: should it be done in a lab? Well, apparently it isn’t. You can do a research in a kitchen or even in your bedroom. Nonetheless, if you have a chance to use a lab at a research institution, then take it.


4) Invest a lot of time

You need a lot of time to put into your research. That means you have to spend hours. One example: a young scientist has spent 800 hours of his time over 2 years to conduct a research. So basically, you need to sacrifice much more time in order to make your projects successful.


Here is another important tip to consider: choose a topic that will challenge and interest you. Also, you need to consider a topic that will impress the judges. Furthermore, don’t be afraid of new challenge, because you will have an opportunity to learn about many things in the future. 


Plus, you need to find an area of interest where you can enjoy while you are researching. Exploring new area of science study should be excited as well. In the end, winning science fair projects require plenty efforts and sure the first one to be existed would be that of the desire to be winner.
